GROUND is an annual poetry journal
of object-inspired ekphrasis.

ek·phra·sis | \ ˈek-frə-səs (n) : a literary description of or commentary on a visual work of art, scene, or object

GROUND seeks poems based on objects that we find, keep, and cherish — objects that, by virtue of their physical, immaterial, or contextual energies, imbue our lives with importance.

To submit to our 2024 issue (issue 3): Please send (1) your poem, (2) a photo of the object upon which it is based, and (3) a short description of the object and its meaning to groundjournal@gmail.com.

GROUND is a companion project to Lines + Stars, a literary journal and small press founded in 2006 and based in Baltimore, Maryland.
